Last year I visited my mother who lives in Canberra, Australia. I spent almost a week there over Anzac Day and went to the dawn service. I thought I’d share some photos that I took while I was there. There’s lots of food because food is the best!
The view from Mount Ainslie at sunset.
Going over the walkway from the Portrait Gallery to the National Gallery.
A surprisingly tasty sultana cake from the Portrait Gallery’s cafe.
We had dinner at Ruby’s which has amaaazzing Chinese food! Yes we ordered this much for the two of us. We got the rest to take home and had it the next day.
Lunch at the Hyatt Hotel Canberra. The entree and dessert were buffet and you had a choice of cooked main. We had cocktails and omg all the desserts were great!
The opposite view of Canberra and Mount Ainslie from Red Hill.
The Anzac Day dawn service. It’s 4am here, I think. Just before all the crowds completely filled the seats and grass area. They were projecting photos and playing accounts of soldiers old and current.
Poppies for the fallen. I left mine at the unknown solider.
The early morning going back home. We went back to sleep for awhile and then saw a movie.
This is back when Adelaide didn’t have a Koko Black, but we have one now yay! I’m a sucker for good chocolate, so.
Mmm chocolate goodness!
So that was my small trip to Canberra. I thought there were a lot of interesting sights. I went to both galleries and the museum, plus the police memorial and it was all enjoyable. It has amazing food though, even dotted around the suburbs! And in Autumn the trees are just lovely.
