In this post I’m going to be reviewing two things: the shopping site Jolse, and the item I ordered from them, Cosrx Natural BHA Skin Returning A-Sol. I had been considering BHA for awhile but didn’t really like the prices or business model over at Paula’s Choice so I just waited. Well, some initial positive reviews of Cosrx’s BHA products came up on the AsianBeauty sub-reddit so I thought I may as well give it a go. The best place it seemed to shop from was a site I hadn’t used before, Jolse. This post has taken awhile because I really wanted to give the BHA a few weeks to work so I hope it is useful!
First we’ll discuss Jolse. Their site is pretty easy to use and you get standard free shipping but you can also add tracking for $2.50 or EMS for $22. For my order I added tracked shipping just in case.
I ordered the 13th of January and it was shipped out on the 15th. From then with standard shipping + tracking, the package was at my house on the 27th of January. That is only 12 days which is really good! The Cosrx cost US$15.98.
Here’s the box it arrived in. Nice and compact just for the one product I purchased. You can see they marked down the price of the item.
All snug in its box with a layer of bubblewrap to protect it.
Despite only getting one item and a tiny box I still received three samples which was really lovely of them! One is even a male product but I don’t think my man is interested lol.
Out of the box and vacuum packed in plastic. There was something up with it though, it was a little wet and had obviously leaked in shipping or storage.
The box had staining from liquid spillage which I tried to outline here. It’s most noticeable in the leached yellow ink of the Cosrx text.
The cap wasn’t broken so I’m not sure what went on but it seems the pump somehow got pushed and released some liquid inside. Not much was lost though and nothing was damaged so it is all good! It’s just a bit of a mystery to me lol.
You get 100mL of product and this is the size of the bottle. It’s a cloudy plastic with plastic pump. Overall, it’s sturdy and has a little weight to it. I like it, it’s simple and easy to use.
Here are the instructions and ingredients. I liked that it has propolis and tea tree oil. The liquid itself does smell the most like tea tree oil and kind of alcohol. It dissipates pretty quickly though. The liquid itself is watery and clear. As it says with the instructions I spread this on after cleansing and drying my face. It doesn’t feel tingly or stingy after I put it on. It’s just… there like any other liquid. I make sure to wait 20+ minutes before continuing with the rest of my routine so it has a chance to work. I only do this at night though.
For reference my current routine is:
Kose Softymo Deep Cleansing Oil
Hado Labo Super HA Hydrating Foam Wash
Cosrx Natural BHA Skin Returning A-Sol
Hado Labo Super HA Lotion Light
Mizon Snail Repair Intensive Ampoule / Missha Night Repair Ampoule
Hado Labo Super HA Hydrating Moisturising Milk
And the results…
January 28th to February 27th. Sorry the light is a bit more yellow today.
My before picture isn’t the best since I was just coming down from a big breakout but I think you can see a difference on my chin that I’ve had way less breakouts there and they healed much nicer than before.
I used this almost every night, once a day, except for about 5 days which I lost some of my progress from travelling, etc. I think it’s getting there? My face definitely feels smoother, breakouts aren’t as bad and I think my skin is more healthy looking. I think I will need to continue and post another comparison picture in a month after this.
I’m also considering adding Vitamin C to aid in the healing process. Thoughts?
Well hope you liked my post! Have you been using BHAs? What do you think of it so far?
