Review: Hourglass Lighting Wardrobe

As part of my Mecca order I purchased the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Wardrobe. I wasn’t too sure which exact powders I would want and the palette is a good price for three shades, including an exclusive light shade. One larger pan of Ambient Lighting powder is $59 and the Wardrobe was $76.

The palette came in this simple, shiny box. It was the same maroon-brown type colour as the case itself. Not much more to say about that really.

Inside the palette are three powders: Dim Light, Incandescent Light and Radiant Light. The company photographs are obviously edited to play up the underlying colours of warm and cool tones. They all look very slightly similar to each other but you can tell their shimmers are differently coloured and the amount of shimmer in each also differs.

The powders themselves are so buttery soft! They are just a pleasure to use on the skin and it’s possible to use all three at once without going overboard. You have the all over powder, the highlight and a slight bronze effect.

Here they are heavily swatched next to each other. As you can see, the far right one is much warmer with gold glitter, middle is white and silvery and the far left is slightly more neutral and peachy – with less glitter than the other two. This makes it perfect for an all over glow, the middle for highlight and the right one for that sun-kissed bronze. The outer two could also be used for subtle blush when you don’t want anything too over the top.

Would I recommend this product? Maybe, it really depends. I suppose it doesn’t actually do much to be honest. It does have that perfect subtle glow and you can get different effects from each powder. If you’re wishing to splurge and own something of extremely high quality then go ahead! Seriously, you won’t want to put this down, it’s so lush. I feel so sophisticated using it and that’s enough for me! Otherwise, if you’re only interested in one colour then you might as well buy a single pan.

Do you own this palette and do you think it was worth it?
