September Favourites (2015)

September has been almost non-existent. Since I’ve just been trying to finish the writing of my thesis I haven’t been up to much else. Luckily the last days saved me so I have some interesting things to post here!

Makeup: Although I did make plenty of purchases in the month I haven’t been able to play with them or they haven’t arrived yet. One such item I haven’t touched much but is sitting on my dresser is the new Urban Decay Naked Smoky palette! I recently used two shades of that for an eye look and am already in love! Expect a proper review soon since it’s been sitting in my drafts unfinished since I got it. I just need to add some completed eye look photos, argh!

In this photo you can also see my new glasses made by Burberry. They’re not straight black, but a shell-like pattern with purple and black. I looove them!

Life: What made updating this blog so difficult was attempting to finish writing my thesis. Well this month I finished the entire first draft! 49 pages and 121 footnotes later I had it all done. Now I have a month to do all the editing but at least that’s a little more relaxing than writing from scratch!

Life (2): Finally able to do something due to the completion of my first draft, my partner and I went to the Adelaide Night Noodle Markets, a part of the OzAsia Festival. We ate Philippine pork with banana and ketchup marinade barbecued over charcoal, Japanese chicken yakisoba, Chinese pork buns with chilli sauce and nitrogen made gelato (not very Asian I know lol). Everything was so delicious and I’m tempted to go back and get some different things on offer like gyoza, Korean fried chicken and waffles!

TV: My partner and I binge-watched all 10 episodes of this in two days! Mr. Robot is simply an amazing show! From the blatant homages to Kubrick, to the crazy twists and turns of the story, and the correct depiction of real hacking and programming, this show is just so awesome. Rami Malek is pretty damn great in this (and it’s kinda funny when you look at my game for the month below). I’m very pleased this got a second season but it’s just so good!

Game: Usually I always say no to horror things because they give me terrible nightmares but after viewing some game play footage of Until Dawn I had to try it out! It just seemed hilarious to me. My partner and I played this together during a day, he got to make the choices and next play-through I will get to. Rami Malek actually stars as one of the teens in this so it was a bit random to go from this to Mr. Robot. Very enjoyable and interesting how self-reflective it is. I can’t wait to play again and choose different things, see different scenes and finally work out the story of the past. As someone who can’t watch horror movies at all I was surprised this didn’t really scare me in the long run.

Music: I’ve been getting back into AFI lately and with my partner’s new record player I decided to get some of my favourites on vinyl! I got this 10″ EP of All Hallow’s EP from Nitro Records own online store. Such a cool little record and I’m looking forward to playing it all October long!

Well that was my month and the favourites I had during it. Next month is looking to be a lot easier with just editing to go. Although I also have to write a research proposal for next year’s application but not right now, arrghh! Hope everyone had a great September!
