It’s a new season and time for my second Marie Claire box! It’s a seasonal box that ships 4 times a year and because of this the goodies are usually much more exciting! Check out the review of my first one here! Well, come on, let’s have a look inside!
Ta-da! This box is full to the brim with goodies and I can’t wait to go through them!
The make up related items. First we have a Zoeva Eye Brush and I got 227 Luxe Soft Definer ($17 at Sephora). They had 3 randomly in the boxes and I got the one that I don’t own already, so that is very appreciated! So soft and beautiful. I definitely recommend Zoeva brushes!
For the nails we have Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure ($14.95) in 160 Shall We Dance, which is a soft pink… like ballet slippers. This is supposed to be an all-in-one product with base coat, strengthener, treatment, colour and top coat with a gel-like finish. There were 14 shades available in the box. I don’t usually wear this safe a colour but will try it out!
For the eyes there is a full size Maybelline The Colossal Pumped Up Volum’ Express Mascara ($19.95) in Glam Black. Apparently this mascara has the biggest brush, smoother formula with twice the collagen and a curved stem that delivers “a double shot” of mascara. Shall be interesting to try this out! I haven’t had a lot of luck with volume mascaras so this is exciting!
Finally we have Maybelline Color Elixir by Color Sensational ($17.95) in 075 Fuchsia Flourish. Said to deliver the colour pay-off of a lipstick, the treatment of a balm and the shine of a gloss. It uses a little teardrop shaped doe-foot applicator.
Here’s a swatch of that one. I like the colour but I can see this being sticky… I’ve been loving matte lipsticks at the moment but will give this a try!
When I opened the box these were the first items that I saw. I do love sheet masks, although I’ve never tried a Western one before. We got two Lonvitalite Face Masks one in Red Wine and the other Coconut Milk. Since the price is $39 for a pack of five I’m going to say NOT WORTH BUYING. It’s nice to get some in a box but I can go buy some amazing Asian ones for $2 each. Seriously readers, save your money on Western sheet masks and go for Etude House, Innisfree and others.
We received a fancy sample of the Elizabeth Arden Superstart Skin Renewal Booster ($85 for full size). It’s hard to photograph as it’s extremely shiny. I do love shiny things. Anyway, back on track. It’s an item or apply between toner and serum/moisturiser. Looking at the ingredients on the back it includes silicones and SLS. It has a few ceramides, plant extracts and linseed oil. Said to renew skin for a healthier and smoother surface. It has a lot of pointless filler ingredients though and better products can be found for less.
Last lot of items for this box. We got way more things compared to last time! First the sample sizes of the OGX Argan Oil of Morocco Shampoo and Conditioner ($17.99 each for full size). You can never have too many shampoo samples, perfect for trying out new ones and for travel.
Trilogy Make-up Be Gone Cleansing Balm sample ($36.90 for full size) could be interesting. I’ve only tried one cleansing balm and it was the much-coveted Banila Co Clean It Zero which is cheaper than this.
Paula’s Choice Vitamin C Spot Treatment sample ($70 for full size). Vitamin C is a miracle product on the skin, really. Paula’s Choice is okay although why they review other company’s products is beyond, the bias to their own brand is STRONG. For that reason and the price I am meh to her products. Vitamin C is cheaper in the Asian market. That seems to be the trend with skincare, right? Haha! Anyway, I will use this and probably like it anyway, oh well!
Last of the skincare… Swisse Deep Sea Hydrating Mist Toner sample ($9.99 for full size). Including aloe vera, sea minerals, niacinamide and rosa damascena flower oil this toner actually sounds really great and what an excellent price too! Spray toners are a great time and product saver, no more cotton rounds! Excited to try this one out!
Also something I forgot to photograph as I was moving everything around, a teeny-tiny sample of Michael Kors 24k Brilliant Gold perfume ($110 for 50mL). I don’t mind these tiny samples as they do actually last a pretty long time! It’s described as “orange mandarin, voluptuous floralcy and a rousing spark of woodiness”. There’s definitely a hit of citrus right at the beginning and it softens to a woods scent, almost pine or herbal. Very fresh and perfect for summer I suppose! It’s really strong though and may cause a headache if not careful…
Well, that was this season’s box. I must say, I thought it was excellent! Definitely a lot of nice summer goodies with a good balance of make up and skincare, plus, no tanning products! Huzzah! I’m glad I signed up for a full year and looking forward to the Autumn box next!
